The staff of Edendale Middle School, EMS, recognizes that early adolescence is a time of transition. No other age encompasses such a unique range of intellectual, physical, ethical, emotional and social development. To address the special needs of young adolescents, the staff of EMS strives to provide:

• ALL students with a challenging comprehensive education
• ALL students a safe environment that fosters a love for learning.
• ALL members of the EMS community with opportunities to work towards building a stronger sense of community with all members actively involved in the daily activities of the school.

Healthy Summers – Parent Tips

During the summer season, many families spend time outdoors and get together for a barbeque.

While gathering with friends and family, help support one another’s health by incorporating some of these wellness tips.

• Bring a Frisbee along – it will get you moving and it’s fun, too!
• Make your own soda using one part 100% fruit juice and one part carbonated water. Add sliced fruit for even more flavor.
• Popsicles can be made using 100% fruit juice, pureed fruit, and even flavored yogurt.
• When you barbeque, include fruit and veggie kabobs.  Skewers of bell pepper, pineapple, and mushrooms are yummy on the grill.
• Fill a piñata with small handfuls of popcorn, trail mix, or banana chips twist-tied in colorful tissue paper.

Veranos Saludables – Consejos para Padres

Durante el verano, muchas familias pasan tiempo al aire libre y se reúnen para tener parrilladas.

En sus reuniones con sus amigos y familia, usted puede contribuir a la salud de todos, incorporando algunos de estos consejos para su bienestar.

• Traiga un Frisbee (disco volador) – los mantendrá móvil, y ¡les divertirá también!
• Haga su propio refresco usando una parte de zumo de fruta 100 %  y una parte de agua mineral. Añada fruta picada para darle más sabor.
• Puede hacer paletas con zumo de fruta 100 %, puré de frutas, y hasta yogur de sabores.
• Cuando usted tenga una parrillada incluya brochetas de frutas y verduras. Las brochetas de pimentón, piña, y champiñones son deliciosas en la parrilla.
• Llene una piñata con pequeños puñados de palomitas de maíz, fruta seca con nueces, o rebanadas de plátanos deshidratados, envueltos en papel colorido.
